Dr. Meredith Madden co-authors book on talking about race with schools and communities
Assistant Professor of Education Dr. Meredith Madden 最近 co-authored the book 种族正义的崛起: How to Talk 关于 Race With Schools and Communities.
Published by Teachers College Press, a leading publisher of award-wining, peer-reviewed resources for all participants in the education process since 1904, this book highlights the work of Rise for Racial Justice, an organization that launched a public racial literacy campaign in 2020 when the nation’s interest in exploring the history and present reality of anti-Black police violence was at a high. Protests following the murder of George Floyd focused the public’s attention on anti-Black 种族歧视, sparking calls for racial justice. 从那, resulted demand for anti种族歧视 training to help make sense of the ongoing twin pandemics of anti-Black 种族歧视 and white supremacy.
种族正义的崛起:How to Talk 关于 Race With Schools and Communities makes a unique contribution to the discussion about anti种族歧视 training for schools and communities. The authors draw on the experiences of anti种族歧视 facilitators as they teach about race, 种族歧视, and racial justice and share curricula, 教学策略, 工具, and practices that support the learning and engagement of educators and youth learners.
Dr. Madden's co-authors include Colette N. 在校园里, a professor of education at the University of San Francisco, 和金伯利·威廉姆斯·布朗, an assistant professor of education at Vassar College.
The book can be purchased directly through Teachers College Press.
